Overview

Lupin is comprised of a fast growing, innovative and robust team of manufacturing, Research and Development and commercial divisions. Together these entities make up the generic and branded U.S. business. Lupin has a significant generic pipeline, and a branded focus on women’s health. Our first Research and Development facility in the US is located in Coral Springs, Florida which focuses on generic and branded orally inhaled and nasal drug products. Somerset, New Jersey is home to one of Fifteen commercial manufacturing sites globally and the only commercial manufacturing facility in the United States for Lupin, as well as additional Research and Development teams. The Sr. Manager, Benefits leads the design, management, and delivery of Lupin’s US employee benefits programs. This role oversees health, welfare, retirement, wellbeing, and leave programs to ensure they are competitive, compliant, and aligned with business and employee needs. The position manages vendor relationships, systems, and governance, with a strong focus on compliance, employee experience, and continuous improvement.

 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

 

  • Benefit Program Design & Oversight

    • Design and manage US health, welfare, and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, COBRA, HSA/FSA, and wellbeing initiatives.
    • Ensure programs are competitive, cost-effective, compliant, and aligned with Lupin’s people strategy.
    • Lead the end-to-end execution of annual open enrollment, including strategy, system readiness, vendor coordination, communications, and employee support. Design and deliver engaging education sessions and roadshows to ensure employees understand their options, resulting in a seamless process with high accuracy, compliance, and strong engagement.
    • Primary contact for employees, providing guidance during onboarding, life events, and annual reviews, ensure employees fully understand their benefit options and experience a seamless, supportive process.
  • 401(k) & Retirement Programs

      • Lead 401(k) plan administration, annual audits, compliance testing, and ERISA/DOL reporting.
      • Serve as the primary lead for quarterly 401(k) committee, partnering with Finance, Legal and senior leadership to prepare materials, manage key vendor relationships and ensure compliance with fiduciary responsibilities.
      • Partner with recordkeepers and advisors to strengthen employee retirement readiness. 

         

        • Benefits Systems & Operations

          • Manage benefits administration systems to ensure accuracy of enrollment, eligibility, and reporting.
          • Drive process efficiencies, data integrity, and seamless employee experience.

         

        • Leave & Disability Programs

          • Oversee FMLA, disability, personal leave, and return-to-work processes; ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
          • Partner with managers and HR to deliver consistent, supportive employee leave experiences.

         

        • Wellbeing Strategy

          • Design and implement holistic wellbeing programs spanning physical, financial, mental, and social health.
          • Engage employees through communications, campaigns, and partnerships with vendors.

         

        • Compliance & Governance

          • Maintain deep expertise in COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, FMLA, and related regulations.
          • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, filings, and audits across all benefits programs.
          • Partner with Finance on benefits budgeting, invoicing, and reporting.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in benefits management, including health & welfare, retirement, and leave programs.
  • Expertise in COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, FMLA, and related compliance requirements.
  • Strong experience with benefits systems, 401(k) audits, and vendor management.
  • Previous experience with HRIS maintenance and administration required.  
  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent interpersonal communications skills required. 
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complexity into clear, actionable solutions.

 

The anticipated salary range for this position in New Jersey is $135,000.00 - $165,000.00, plus discretionary performance bonus (based upon eligibility). The final salary offered to a successful candidate may vary, and will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to: the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, skillset, education, business needs, etc. Lupin is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.

Physical Requirements

The physical requirements of the position generally include: standing, walking, sitting, using hands and fingers, reaching with hands and arms, talking and hearing. In some circumstances, bending, kneeling, crouching, stooping, and crawling may apply. This position may require lifting up to 15 pounds occasionally. Generally work is performed in an office environment.
