Our first Research and Development facility in the US is located in Coral Springs, Florida which focuses on generic and branded orally inhaled and nasal drug products. Somerset, New Jersey is home to one of Fifteen commercial manufacturing sites globally and the only commercial manufacturing facility in the United States for Lupin, as well as additional Research and Development teams. Responsibilities

 

Reporting to the Head of Mfg. Science & Technology, this position will be based in the Somerset, NJ location.  This Packaging Engineer will support the product development & packaging department in activities such as packaging development, SOPs creation, packaging materials selection, supplier management, Tech, etc.  This person will ensure all activities are carried out in compliance with regulatory requirements, Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and standard operating procedures. 

 

  • Support packaging by creating/revising master packing records, SAP recipes, and an array of products, including tablets, capsules, liquids, suspensions, and powders.
  • Support New Product Launches by conducting engineering batches when needed to evaluate and challenge the Critical Process Parameters for Oral Solid and Liquid products packaging activity.
  • Perform packaging material qualifications, perform shipping studies. Perform technical evaluation and assessment on vendor changes
  • Develop optimal packaging configurations for the pharmaceutical products.
  • Creation of packaging-related documents such as change control, SOPs, packaging validation protocols/reports, etc.
  • Coordinate with project management for launch readiness with the packaging of new product launches.
  • Perform / Maintain transactions in a relevant technological platform such as SAP.
  • Perform technical investigation in case of deviations from approved quality standards.
  • Involved in selection, confirmation, and implementation of packaging materials (bottles, caps, labels, shippers, cartons, and blistering materials) for alternate source and new packs as well as comparisons with existing materials equivalency.
  • Implement a system for palletization of pallets on the packaging line, including CAPE PAK diagrams in batch records
  • Identify and coordinate with third parties to packaging activities, including review and approval of records.
  • Work with several departments, including QA/QC, Production, Marketing, Sales, Regulatory, Purchasing, and Planning on a daily basis in a GXP environment
  • Lead continuous improvements to the packaging components and operations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering or scientific field
  • 2 – 4 years of Packaging operations experience preferred in Pharmaceuticals, Food, Biotech, and Beverages.
  • Knowledge of a cGMP environment
  • Strong computer technology skills, preferably in an environment such as SAP, Minitab etc.
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills.
  • Effective and results-based achievement in a fast-paced, customer service, deadline-driven driven and multi-project environment

Physical Requirements

The physical requirements of the position generally include: standing, walking, sitting, using hands and fingers, reaching with hands and arms, talking and hearing. In some circumstances, bending, kneeling, crouching, stooping, and crawling may apply. This position may require lifting up to 15 pounds occasionally. Generally work is performed in an office environment.
