Responsibilities

Role and Responsibilities

 

Building Maintenance Mechanic - 2nd Shift will performs maintenance and repair activities on mechanical and electrical systems in the Lupin Somerset laboratories, manufacturing facilities, and corporate office areas. Building Maintenance Mechanic assists maintenance mechanics and engineers with major tasks, repairs and other duties as assigned. The individual should possess effective time management skills and problem-solving skills

 

This position working hours are between 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. Monday - Friday 

 

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

 

  • Assists with the operation, maintenance and repair of all mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, life safety systems and other equipment in assigned properties
  • Performs preventive, predictive and equipment breakdown maintenance as required by Company standards and manufacturers' specifications and documents actions/measures with the service request system
  • Places orders for components, parts and supplies to maintain the continuous and efficient operations of building systems
  • Takes care and custody of issued tools and equipment and assists with the maintenance and organization of tools, parts, and supplies inventories
  • Quickly responds to and resolves tenant and property management service requests and documents actions with the service request system
  • Performs general building maintenance and repairs, including re-lamping, plumbing, locksmithing, and painting equipment and related spaces, and other minor spot and touch-ups as needed
  • Conducts periodic inspections of mechanical, common and vacant spaces and appurtenances; maintains these areas in a clean, operational, orderly, and safe condition
  • Responds to alarms and incidents of any nature; provides assistance when needed; identifies recurring issues for follow up and correction
  • Ensures that required documentation, operating logs, and maintenance forms are completed accurately and clearly and are maintained in Company Compliance Books, paper files, and electronic data/filing system
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and accident free workplace and exercises common sense and good judgment when performing duties
  • Carries and utilizes Company issued communication devices for emergency response and daily communication
  • Exemplifies Lupin’s core values through conduct, decision-making, and all forms of interaction and communication with Employees as well as other internal and external stake-holders.
  • Other duties and tasks as it applies to effectively handle above listed responsibilities.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Technical School, Industrial Certifications, or bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or related discipline preferred
  • 2+ years as a Facilities Engineer or Mechanic

Technical Skills

  • General Facility Operations/Maintenance/Repair Experience: Two or more years of experience within the disciplines of stationary engineering, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, other mechanical systems and/or general building/facilities maintenance
  • Experience processing service requests and/or preventive maintenance requests with a computerized maintenance management system is preferred
  • Ability to make repairs to building systems and components using regular and special tools (e.g. screwdrivers, hammers, adjustment gauges, multi meters, lubrication equipment, etc.)
  • General knowledge of safe work practices & OSHA regulations; OSHA 10 training is preferred
  • General capability with the operation of a PC and mobile communication devices, including Internet browsers

Work Schedule

The schedule varies based on the employee’s assigned shift and the needs of the department. As essential building personnel the responsibilities of this position occasionally require overtime, weekend and holiday work on a scheduled, short-notice or emergency basis

Physical Requirements

The physical requirements of the position generally include: standing, walking, sitting, using hands and fingers, reaching with hands and arms, talking and hearing. In some circumstances, bending, kneeling, crouching, stooping, and crawling may apply. This position may require lifting up to 15 pounds occasionally. Generally work is performed in an office environment.
