Overview

Lupin is comprised of a fast growing, innovative and robust team of manufacturing, Research and Development and commercial divisions. Together these entities make up the generic and branded U.S. business. Lupin has a significant generic pipeline, and a branded focus on women’s health. Our first Research and Development facility in the US is located in Coral Springs, Florida which focuses on generic and branded orally inhaled and nasal drug products. Somerset, New Jersey is home to one of twelve commercial manufacturing sites globally and the only commercial manufacturing facility in the United States for Lupin, as well as additional Research and Development teams. Responsibilities

The Manager for Packaging reports to the Associate Director of Operations and shall lead all Packaging area resources and coordinate with Company departments such as Warehouse, Manufacturing, Office Staff, and Quality to ensure compliance and product quality. They shall maintain processes to support optimal Packaging area performance and continuous operations, as well as successful oversight and implementation of serialization / DSCSA requirements. Experience with packaging of Tablets, Capsules and Powders types of packaging lines.

 

 

  • Oversee that both product and production are in CGMP compliance and responsible for establishing systems that support the continuous improvement of procedures in order to heighten quality, efficiency, and productivity
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the operational area
  • Provide assistance to staff in the area of conflict resolution
  • Responsible for the area’s Safety and Quality performance
  • Develop employee competencies in a coaching, empathetic and trusting manner
  • Drive or help drive project initiatives such as serialization/DSCSA and ERP
  • Lead, motivate, and guide the Packaging team by providing the productivity metrics and help achieve the Site goals.
  • Handle the Employee Relations issues as well as foster a healthy and engaged workplace
  • Ensure the Operational Excellence metrics and OE improvement metrics for Packaging are met
  • Guides employees and carries out tasks in a hands-on manner
  • Make sure that the daily production is running optimally, both in terms of output and quality
  • Establish framework, daily planning and communication structure for the Packaging area
  • Ensure that current requirements to environment, safety and health issues are met within the production area
  • Manage requisitions and appropriate approval authority level
  • Manage the area operations and management of employees
  • Regularly act as a link between the Packaging Area and Company Management
  • Make certain that equipment is maintained correctly according to current pharmaceutical regulatory requirements, industry standards, and Company requirements, as appropriate
  • Coordinate and direct maintenance service activities
  • Attract, retain, and develop staff with the appropriate behaviors and commitment
  • Drive a continuous improvement culture and mindset within the department
  • Make sure that all personnel are trained correctly and according to standards
  • Work closely together with quality to solve quality issues as they occur and ensure timely release of products
  • Manage and Enforce Company Standard Operating Procedures
  • Ability and drive to build knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements such as 21CFR part 210 and 211, cGMP’s, FDA, and other regulatory agencies

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a Scientific, Engineering, or Business related field
  • 5+ years’ leadership experience in the Pharmaceutical industry with minimum 2 years in managerial role
  • 8+ years’ hands-on experience with Packaging equipment such as Bottle Unscramblers, Slat Fillers, Cappers, Labelers, Case Packers, and Vision Systems
  • Ability to follow instructions carefully
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Hardworking and attentive to Detail
  • Computer experience necessary, specifically ERP/Inventory Control-systems (Microsoft Dynamics, a plus)
  • Able to work as part of team and adapt to changes in work duties
  • Detail-oriented, thorough and methodical, and able to follow timeline

Physical Requirements

The physical requirements of the position generally include: standing, walking, sitting, using hands and fingers, reaching with hands and arms, talking and hearing. In some circumstances, bending, kneeling, crouching, stooping, and crawling may apply. This position may require lifting up to 15 pounds occasionally. Generally work is performed in an office environment.
