    This Manager is the Environmental Health and Safety department lead for the Somerset site, reporting directly to the Division President.  The primary focus for this position is to create a culture of safety and environmental concsousness, as well as initiate and maintain a Center of Excellence for EHS at the Somerset Site.  This Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Federal and State regulations following Lupin policies and guidelines to guarantee the safety of all employees, visitors and contractors and to protect the quality of the environment.  



    • Establishes Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) strategies and goals necessary to achieve excellence in performance across all site locations.
    • Works cross-functionally with other Managers and Department Heads at the Somerset site to create a culture of safety 
    • Develops and implements EH&S policies, standards, guidelines and programs to meet the overall strategy for the prevention and control of environmental, health and safety risks to include, prevention of injuries, hygiene, clean air and clean water act compliance, records and permits, hazardous waste and EPA compliance, wastewater operations.
    • Assures compliance of company operations to all applicable laws, regulations and standards, good business practices and company documented procedures to include knowledge of all standards, government occupational health and environmental regulations.
    • Establishes and monitors key performance metrics to measure performance progress and to evaluate EH&S program effectiveness; advises organization leaders on performance improvements and leads improvement initiatives.
    • Develops and analyzes safety information reporting, consolidates and reports key EHS statistics monthly, quarterly and annually as required.
    • Interprets legislation on relevant issues and provides practical guidance, support and training aimed at maintaining and developing best practices; coordinates specific regulatory safety and environmental education and training programs and requirements.
    • Hire, coach, develop, and manage direct and indirect reports - setting goals and priorities accordingly. Lead EH&S Leadership Safety Council. Assess performance and provide ongoing feedback and coaching.
    • Accountable for overall budget and financial performance of the EH&S organization
    • Create an environment of strong team spirit, timely and effective communications, and high motivation and inspire teams to achieve goals in the immediate and longer term. Be an active and visible change agent, promoting flexible and open mindsets to new opportunities.
    • As a site leadership team member drive collaboration within site and across network activities, cross-functional planning, and decision making.
    • Proactively promote positive Safety Culture and cGMP operating principles.
    • Participate and lead EHS risk assessments for new operations, equipment and process changes. Work to resolve all EHS concerns. 


    • Bachelors or Master’s Degree in an Occupational Safety, Scientific, or Engineering field
    • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in EH&S areas in a cGMP pharmaceutical manufacturing operation with a track record of managing strong safety related programs as measured by industry reporting standards as well as Safety/Environmental compliance responsibilities
    • 5+ years supervisory experience including full cycle performance management
    • Must have a working understanding of environmental and safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.), with extensive experience in the development, maintenance and implementation of EH&S systems
    • Knowledgeable in the technical fundamentals of safety management and risk assessments and reduction, including machinery and process safety, industrial hygiene, loss prevention, ergonomics and occupational health.

    Physical Requirements

    The physical requirements of the position generally include: standing, walking, sitting, using hands and fingers, reaching with hands and arms, talking and hearing. In some circumstances, bending, kneeling, crouching, stooping, and crawling may apply.  Generally work is performed in office, lab, and manufacturing environments.
