The Senior Director of US Procurement is a member of the Somerset, NJ Site Leadership Team reporting directly to the Division President and is responsible for the adequate direct and indirect procurement of all goods and services for Lupin in the United States including robust commercial manufacturing, sales and marketing operations, and research and development initiatives. This Senior Director will provide oversight for the procurement of API’s, IT, contract services, production and laboratory equipment, fleet vehicles, furniture, general office supplies, and any other purchasing.  Primary objective of this role is the development of operational procurement strategies in support of direct and indirect commodities. This position will require the skills necessary to identify cost saving opportunities, creatively negotiate, generate contracts and manage delivery of optimal solutions for all materials, services, and equipment. It is critical that this individual is capable of facilitating participation of all team members in supply and purchasing assessments when needed as well as fostering relationships with competitive, high-quality, and diverse suppliers.


  • Responsible for supplier management activities for all sites in the United States including contract and pricing agreement negotiations, problem resolution, project management, and supplier performance reporting for all suppliers.
  • Monitor the cost, schedule and performance aspects of major contracts and subcontracts for the site; coordinates procurement activities with other departments to maintain inventories at planned levels.
  • Act as the lead innovator to the implementation of the Lupin Procurement processes, procedures and systems, best practices, and deployment through written policies, procedures, training, and effective measures consistent with internal controls.
  • Effective in working with projects of up to $200mm in spend.
  • Analyze regional category spend to identify opportunities to reduce individual contract/sub-category spend utilizing all savings levers.
  • Ensures continuity and reliability of supply and mitigates operational risks.
  • Responsible for contributing to the global category teams in the development, communication and approval of sourcing strategies, collecting and providing regional business requirements, market information, and supply practices.
  • Support business case development for larger regional and or global initiatives.
  • Seek Diverse Supplier souring when vendor capabilities are in line with business needs and competitive market pricing.
  • Other Procurement projects as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or other related field required; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years’ of pharmaceutical industry Procurement experience.
  • Experience with developing and implementing successful cost saving initiatives
  • Working experience with an ERP system, SAP preferred
  • Strong financial acumen and high degree of ethics
  • Strong Supply Chain and or production planning and scheduling experience
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office suite
  • Excellent communication skills to frequently interact with external suppliers (local, regional, and global) and many internal functions.
  • Ability to work under time constraints that require creative thinking, problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Must be able to assess how decisions impact performance. Business Acumen (concepts and practices and applies them across all situations).

  • Ability to travel (up to 50%), domestically and internationally
