Overview

The Senior Director, Manufacturing is responsible for providing leadership and management to the resources responsible for the execution of the operational objectives within all dosage form manufacturing departments (solid, liquid and semi-solid).  Experiend wtih Solid Oral Dose manufacuring is imperative.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead, foster and develop a culture of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing within the company’s manufacturing team in pharmaceutical manufacturing operations (Granulation, Compression/Encapsulation, Coating) with the goal of meeting or exceeding company goals and objectives; emphasis on quality, cost reductions and productivity improvements
  • Demonstrate and ensure strict adherence to GMP guidelines in all direct manufacturing practices throughout the Somerset site
  • Formulate a responsible (challenging, robust and realistic) strategy and ensure execution through objective measurement and taking corrective actions
  • Lead the annual budgeting process to support business objectives
  • Leadership of people to implement change, understand consequences and obtain commitment through coaching, training, and clear objective setting to meet the site’s short and long term objectives
  • Develop department members to be key leaders within the organization
  • Build and sustain employee engagement by creating a culture of efficient execution and an environment in which individuals and teams can excel and continuously improve
  • Develop supportive working relationships with and act as liaison between department management/subordinate levels, as well as executive/department manager levels to inform personnel of communications, decisions, policies and all matters that affect their performance, attitudes and results
  • Support the Company Safety Program to ensure a safe and suitable work environment for all employees, vendors, suppliers and visitors.
  • Meet all requirements mandated by the Occupational Safety and Health Standards

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelors or Master’s Degree in a Scientific or Engineering field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing management role
  • Demonstrated record of working effectively with Quality Systems, Finance, Engineering and R&D departments
  • Working knowledge of 6 Sigma/Lean Methodologies
  • Experience managing teams with emphasis on development and mentorship
  • Experience with SAP or other ERP system

 

Physical Requirements

The physical requirements of the position generally include: standing, walking, sitting, using hands and fingers, reaching with hands and arms, talking and hearing. In some circumstances, bending, kneeling, crouching, stooping, and crawling may apply. This position may require lifting up to 35 pounds occasionally. Generally work is performed in office and manufacturing environments.
