Overview

The Engineering Mechanic is responsible Maintaining the plant and machinery of the manufacturing and packaging activities within the Lupin Somerset sites. This position is responsible for maintaining plant and machinery in good state of repair, carry out equipment breakdowns and assist in execution of any Capital Improvement Projects.  Second Shift is 3pm-12am.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Supports the daily operation of the production and packaging lines
  • Maintains production equipment and production lines
  • Attend to emergency breakdown work for the equipment when the situation arises and troubleshooting of equipment
  • Take corrective action in case of any irregularities in the machines in consultation with Engineer
  • Provide necessary support to manufacturing department to get more productivity in daily activity
  • Carry out preventive maintenance schedule for engineering, manufacturing, packaging department equipment
  • Participate in the engineering department meetings and implement the company’s strategic plan
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation of engineering department
  • Maintain the facility in a good state of repair
  • Assist in the execution of any Capital Improvement Projects
  • Take safety precautions while attending jobs
  • Utilization engineering items and controlling usage costs

  • Aids in changeovers and production mechanical problems
  • Designs and aids in fabrication of machine modifications to run new products
  • Establishes and maintains spare parts inventory
  • Expected to work at a constant reasonable pace, neatly and efficiently, and as a team player with other employees
  • Supports and works with Director of Engineering and Building Maintenance when needed, as directed by Mechanical Manager
  • Responsible along with other mechanics for neatness, safety and security of shop and tools
  • Set the example for teamwork, cooperation, safety, respect and work ethic for all employees
  • Continues to work on and update the lockout/tagout procedures Department of Environmental Protection duties include assisting in the containment and cleanup of spills, and alarm systems

Qualifications

Education:

Technical School, Industrial Certificatoins, or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline preferred

Required Experience:

Manufacturing/ Packaging Mechanic: 3 years in the pharmaceutical industry

Lockout/ Tagout Filling and packaging equipment operation

Troubleshooting and repair Industrial safety Equipment set-up

Hazardous Material handling

Electro/ pneumatic troubleshooting

 

Physical and Environmental Conditions:

The physical requirements of the position generally include: standing, walking, sitting, using hands and fingers, reaching with hands and arms, talking and hearing. In some circumstances, bending, kneeling, crouching, stooping, and crawling may apply. This position may require lifting up to 30 pounds occasionally. Generally work is performed in a manufacturing environment.
